Payment Links
Create shareable payment links to collect payments without writing any code.
Payment links let you collect payments by sharing a URL. No website, no code, no integration required. Create a link in your dashboard, share it with your customer, and get paid.
Creating a payment link
Open Payment Links
Go to Payment Links in your Credo dashboard and click Create Payment Link.
Configure the link
Fill in the payment details:
| Field | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Yes | A name for this link (for your own reference) |
| Amount | Yes | The amount to charge. Leave blank for customer to enter. |
| Description | Yes | What this payment is for. Shown to the customer. |
| Currency | Yes | Available currencies based on your business configuration |
| Redirect URL | No | Where to send the customer after payment |
The currencies available for your payment links depend on what's configured for your business. Contact support if you need to add or change supported currencies.
Share the link
After creating, copy the link URL and share it:
- Email - paste into any email
- SMS - send as a text message
- Social media - share on WhatsApp, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
- Website - embed as a button or hyperlink
- QR code - generate a QR code from the URL for print materials
Fixed vs open amount
Set a specific amount when creating the link. The customer pays exactly that amount. Use for:
- One-time product purchases
- Fixed-price services
- Event tickets
The customer sees the amount on the checkout page and cannot change it.
Leave the amount blank. The customer enters how much they want to pay. Use for:
- Donations
- Tips
- Variable-price services
- Deposit payments
You can optionally set a minimum amount.
Managing payment links
Viewing links
Go to Payment Links to see all your links with:
- Link name and URL
- Amount (or "Open" for variable)
- Number of successful payments
- Total amount collected
- Status (active or disabled)
Disabling a link
To stop accepting payments on a link:
- Find the link in Payment Links
- Toggle it to Disabled
Disabled links show a "This payment link is no longer active" message to customers. You can re-enable them at any time.
Tracking payments
Every payment made through a link appears in your Transactions section with the payment link name attached. Filter by payment link to see all transactions for a specific link.
Use cases
Freelancers
Send a payment link in your invoice email. Clients click and pay instantly.
Social commerce
Share a product link on Instagram or WhatsApp. Customers pay without visiting a website.
Events
Create a link for event registration with a fixed ticket price.
Donations
Set up an open-amount link for donation campaigns.
Embedding on a website
You can embed a payment link as a button on any website:
<a href="https://pay.credocentral.com/pay/your-link-id"
style="display: inline-block; padding: 12px 24px;
background: #0066ff; color: white;
border-radius: 6px; text-decoration: none;">
Pay Now
</a>Or as a redirect from your own checkout page:
window.location.href = "https://pay.credocentral.com/pay/your-link-id";Payment link vs API integration
| Feature | Payment Link | API Integration |
|---|---|---|
| Setup time | Minutes | Hours to days |
| Code required | None | Yes |
| Customizable checkout | Limited | Full control |
| Automatic verification | Dashboard only | Programmatic |
| Webhooks | Yes | Yes |
| Best for | Quick, one-off payments | Custom e-commerce, apps |
Start with payment links to validate your business model. When you need more control - custom fields, programmatic verification, automated fulfillment - switch to the API.
